Ecological pyramids

Ecological pyramids are some sort of diagram representing the number of organisms present in a trophic level of a food chain.

There are two types of ecological pyramids:

  1. Pyramid of numbers – This exemplifies the quantity of living beings present in each trophic level of a food chain that is unrelated to their mass.
  2. Pyramids of biomass: This shows the total mass of the organisms present in each trophic level of a food chain which is not respective to their numbers.
