Bangladesh is beset with many problems. The unemployment is one of the most serious problems. The word 'unemployment' means a state in which a man is out of work. When an adult person has no work to bring money for the subsistance of himself  and the member of his family, he is treated to be unemployed.

            Unemployment is a great social evil. The peace and prosperity of social life depends upon a handsome income of all able bodied person. There goes the proverb that "An idle brain is devil's workshop". An unemployed person has an idle brain. Such a man has no work and therefore no income. So, he can not but do mischief.

            There are a lot of reason behind the unemployment problem. The main cause behind the unemployment problem is population growth of Bangladesh . Bangladesh is one of the over populated country. In Bangladesh employment is not created at the rate at which the population is increasing. Moreover, the prevalent education system in Bangladesh is also responsible for this problem. In Bangladesh , inspite of increasing demands of skilled labourers in the industrial process , depending on foreign technology employment of skilled labourers are not possible for want of technical knowledge , as a result unskilled labourers remain unemployed. Moreover most of the people of Bangladesh are directly or indirectly dependent on the undeveloped agriculture. As our agriculture is not developed , unemployment increases. In our country there are very few cottage industry, Which are present, for want of capital these are about to be extinct. So, unemployment problem increases.

           Bangladesh is one of the developing country.We cannot expect to solve this problem without long term and pragmatic planning. It is possible to increase the rate of employment in the agricultural sector changing the structure of ownership of land. The unemployment problem can be solved establishing cottage industry and large scale industries. The unemployment problem can also be solved by changing the education system by introducing the practical education. 

            The number of jobless can also be brought down by increasing the working places for both male and female. Female education should be expanded otherwise country's prosper cannot be possible. It is also possibe to decrease the unemployment rate by sending the unemployed to foreign countries. The main solution of unemployment problem is to control the population growth. For which illiteracy should be removed. So, by this way this problem can solved. 

          No country of the world is free from this problem. The government of countries of the world is trying to solve this problem,but complete success has not yet been attained. It is encouraging us that our government have taken some steps to solve this problem. It is hoped that more steps will be taken in future to solve the problem of unemployment.
