Drying is define to remove the moisture contain from the leather upto 10-20%.After execution of all stages of wet processing the leather are dried and prepared for the subsequent finishing process. Drying is very important operation in leather processing. It is generally done after setting out. If drying is carried out rapidly the final leather may become cracky, horny. On the other hand slow dried leathers generally show fungus and molds on the surface. It also results of too soft, spongy and stretchy leathers. Drying should be preferably carried out at not high temperature and at the beginning of the process the air should have a relatively high humidity. So proper drying is essential for good quality leather.
