The chemical name of baking soda is sodium bicarbonate. It is a leavening agent used in baked goods. It is a white crystalline powder that is naturally alkaline. Baking soda gets activated when combined with a liquid or an acidic agent.

- Baking soda also has antifungal properties. If you have a mild nail infection, soaking your hands in baking soda solution might relieve you.
Health risks from baking soda
Too much of something is bad for health. Excessive baking soda consumption might worsen kidney disease. It can cause muscle weakness and cramps. Taking excessive baking soda might be poisonous because of its sodium content. The body strives to restore salt balance when someone consumes too much baking soda by bringing water into the digestive tract. Vomiting, diarrhea, and nausea are the results.
