Chloroplast is a type of plastid that is responsible for the green color of plant parts. Chloroplast can be found in the cells of green leaves, tender stems and roots, and green fruits. They are green due to the high concentration of green pigments in them. Other pigments found in small amounts include carotin, xanthophyll, and fucoxanthin.
Functions of chloroplast:
Photosynthesis is used to make carbohydrate food.
Chemical energy is converted from solar energy.
With the aid of enzymes, protein and fats are generated.
