Ecology
It is basically the study of relationships between organisms and the environment surrounding them. It also considers the equilibrium between these relationships.
There are different types of ecology:
-
Population ecology
-
Community ecology
-
Global ecology
-
Landscape ecology
-
Ecosystem ecology
-
And others
Factors in Ecology
There are two types of factors in ecology: biotic and abiotic.
-
Biotic factors: Living factors of an ecosystem.
-
Abiotic factors: Non-living components of the ecosystem.
The living and non-living elements, as well as their interactions with the environment, are included in the biotic and abiotic variables.
Types of Ecology
Global Ecology:
-
Focuses on interactions among Earth’s land, ecosystems, atmosphere, and oceans.
-
Helps to understand their influence on the planet.
Landscape Ecology:
-
Studies the role of human impacts on landscape features.
-
Deals with materials exchange and energy exchange in the ecosystem.
Ecosystem Ecology:
-
Includes the factors of the entire ecosystem, both living and non-living, and their relationship with the environment.
Community Ecology:
-
Deals with how the community is affected by interactions between living organisms.
Population Ecology:
-
Examines how the genetic composition and size of populations are altered.
-
Studies population density and distribution.
Importance of Ecology
-
It is important for the conservation of the environment.
-
It helps in energy conservation.
-
It plays a role in resource allocation.
